Fort Heritage Precinct
Cross the threshold into Fort Saskatchewan and experience the sights and sounds of a modern , upbeat city with a remarkable history extending back to the 1875 arrival of the North West Mounted Police (NWMP). Imagine the long-ago clip-clop of the horse hooves and the lives of the first settlers as you stroll through the eight heritage buildings at the Fort Saskatchewan Museum & Historic Site. This three-acre picturesque historic village overlooks the scenic North Saskatchewan River. New to the site is the NWMP Fort that takes you back to 1875-1885 when the NWMP were bringing law and order to the community. It’s easy to imagine what laws might have been enforced at the old courthouse, what school days on the prairies were like and what the men of the North West Mounted Police did at the 1875-1885 NWMP Fort.
